Curtains are one of the most versatile and essential pieces in any home. They can be used decoratively, and functionally, and achieve best result with a balanced combination of both of those features! We offer a wide variety of styles so there is something perfect for every need, from the soft look of sheer un-lined linen panels, to the super functional double roller blinds, through to the ever popular bedroom block-outs to ensure no light is let in through the windows.

Curtains are a great way to add personality and style to your own home. When considering how you want your windows to look, it is helpful to consider their primary function, as well as their style. Do you need them to provide privacy or allow light in? Will they be opened and closed regularly or infrequently? Are they in an area of the house where they will attract moisture? Do you want a formal or more relaxed look? Do they need to be the centrepiece of your styling, or just support your existing décor? These are all questions we can guide you through to help you determine exactly which style, fabric and colour is right for you.

Some of our more popular types of curtains are:

  • Pinch pleat (or tailored pleat) curtains
  • Box pleat curtains, double or triple
  • Goblet pleat curtain
  • Pencil pleat curtains
  • Eyelet (grommet) curtains
  • Rod-pocket curtains
  • Back Tab curtains
  • Tab-top curtains

Single width curtains are perfect for large windows in your living room or bedroom. You can draw them to the wall either way, depending on where you want them functionally, and they'll provide perfect privacy when closed.

Double width curtains are a formal yet stylish way to cover your windows. They consist of 2 pieces of material, one to each side of the window which pull together in the centre, giving an elegant and grand appearance in any room. This style is well suited to most standard sized windows.

The actual total width of the curtains should be at least twice as wide as the window itself, with an extra 200mm on either side for ease of operation - this will allow you to draw the curtain together in a single movement without them bunching up or pulling away from each other and consequently blocking out any natural light which may have been coming through. The extra width also allows them to hang as designed, rather than being stretched flat across the window space.

Curtains can be made of a variety of materials, with linen, silk or cotton being the most popular. When choosing curtains in Launceston it's important that you match your carpet colours and upholstery as closely as possible so that they're consistent throughout the room - this will create an uninterrupted flow from one space to another. Our staff can certainly assist with this task.
